People delete pages for all sorts of reasons
There's no single "right" use case. Here are some of the most common ones we see.
Removing blank pages from scanned documents. Scanners love adding blank pages, especially when you're doing double-sided scanning and some pages are single-sided. You end up with a 40-page PDF that should really be 25. Rather than rescanning, just delete the blanks here.
Deleting a cover letter before sharing a report. You've got a PDF with an internal cover memo attached to the front. Your client doesn't need to see that. Pull it off before you send the file over — takes about five seconds.
Stripping out an incorrect page. Maybe page 7 has an outdated chart or a draft paragraph that shouldn't have made it into the final version. Instead of going back to the source document, just remove it from the PDF directly.
Removing a page with personal info before forwarding. There's a page with someone's address, phone number, or SSN that you don't want floating around in email. Delete it before you forward the document. Quick privacy fix.
Cleaning up a PDF export that added extra blank pages. Some software — looking at you, Word — likes to throw in an extra blank page at the end when you export to PDF. It's a small thing, but it looks sloppy. Remove it.
Good to know
Your original file is never modified
We create a brand new PDF with the remaining pages. The file on your computer stays exactly as it was.
Deleted pages are gone for real
There's no undo in the downloaded file. Once you download the new version, those pages aren't hiding somewhere inside it — they're actually removed.
Made a mistake? Just upload again
If you accidentally delete the wrong page, don't worry. Your original is untouched — upload it again and pick different pages this time.
Page numbers stay sequential
If you delete pages 3 and 5 from a 10-page document, the new PDF will have 8 pages numbered 1 through 8. No weird gaps or jumps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it change my original file?
Your original stays exactly where it is. We make a new PDF without the pages you removed.
Can I remove a bunch of pages at once?
Yeah. Click them individually or type something like 2,4,6-10.
What if I accidentally delete the wrong page?
Just upload again. Your original file isn't touched.
Is there a charge?
It's free. Seriously.
Mac or Windows?
Both. Also works on your phone.
Can I delete the first page only?
Yes. Just select page 1 and you're done. This is actually one of the most common things people use this tool for — removing a cover page before sharing a report.
What if I need to delete 50 pages from a 100-page document?
That works fine. You can type a range like 1-50 or click each page individually. If you're keeping fewer pages than you're removing, though, you might find our extract tool faster — just pull out the pages you actually want.
Does deleting pages reduce file size?
Usually, yes. If the pages you're removing had images or heavy content, the new file will be noticeably smaller. Text-only pages won't make as big a difference, but you'll still save some space.
Can I preview pages before deleting?
You can see thumbnail previews of each page after uploading, so you know exactly what you're removing before you commit.
What about pages with form data?
Form fields and their filled-in data stay on any pages you keep. The pages you remove are just gone — form data and all.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yep. A scanned PDF is still a PDF. Doesn't matter if the pages are images or text — deletion works the same way.
Can I delete pages and then add new ones?
Not in one step. But you can delete the pages you don't want here, download the result, and then use our merge tool to combine it with another PDF. Takes about 30 seconds total.
Will the page numbers update?
The pages in the new PDF will be numbered sequentially starting from 1. No gaps.
