When rotation saves the day
You'd be surprised how often a simple rotation is all that's standing between you and a usable document.
Scanned documents that came out sideways
Scanners don't always get the orientation right, especially with mixed-size originals. You end up with a perfectly good scan that's turned 90 degrees. One click here and it's fixed — no need to rescan the whole stack.
Phone-scanned PDFs in landscape
When you scan something with your phone's camera, the resulting PDF often ends up in landscape mode even though the original document was portrait. It's annoying, and most phone apps don't let you fix it easily.
Architectural drawings that need vertical viewing
Blueprints and floor plans sometimes get saved in the wrong orientation. If you're sharing them with a client or printing them out, having to tilt your head sideways isn't exactly professional. Rotate them before sending.
Presentations exported in wrong orientation
Exporting slides to PDF can produce pages that are rotated unexpectedly, especially when switching between widescreen and standard formats. Rather than re-exporting from the source app, just rotate the PDF directly.
Rotation options explained
90° clockwise
The most common fix — this is what you want when a page is lying on its side with the top pointing left, which happens constantly with scanned documents and phone camera PDFs.
180°
For pages that are completely upside down, which is less common but does happen when a document gets fed into a scanner the wrong way around or when a PDF export just gets confused.
270° (counter-clockwise)
Same as rotating 90° to the left — use this when the page is sideways but tilted the other direction, with the top pointing right instead of left.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which angles can I pick?
90 degrees, 180, or 270. Covers every situation I can think of.
Can I rotate just one page and leave the others?
Right now it rotates all pages the same direction. Single-page rotation is coming.
Does it mess with the text?
Nothing inside the PDF changes. Pages just get turned.
Cost?
Zero.
Adobe needed?
Nah. Browser only.
Can I rotate just the cover page?
Not yet — right now the rotation applies to every page. We're working on per-page rotation, though. For now, you could extract the cover page, rotate it separately, then merge it back.
What about landscape tables inside a portrait document?
That's a tricky one. If most of your pages are portrait and only a couple have landscape tables, rotating the whole document won't help. You'd want to extract those specific pages, rotate them, and merge everything back together. It takes a couple extra steps but it works.
Does rotation affect text searchability?
Nope. The text layer stays intact — you can still search, copy, and select text after rotating.
Can I rotate a scanned PDF?
Yes. Scanned PDFs are actually some of the most common files people rotate here. The image content just gets turned like any other page.
What if I pick the wrong angle?
Upload it again and pick a different one. Your original file is never modified, so there's nothing to undo — just try again.
My PDF has mixed orientations — can I fix that?
If every page needs the same correction, sure. But if some pages are portrait and others landscape and they all need different fixes, you'll need to split the file, rotate each part separately, and merge them back. Our split and merge tools can help with that.
Does it handle large files?
It handles most files people throw at it. If your PDF is several hundred megabytes, it might take a moment, but it'll get through it.
What about PDFs with annotations?
Annotations rotate along with the page. Comments, highlights, sticky notes — they all stay where they are relative to the content.
